Eco-tourism
The Eco-Tourism Project at Mhatarbachiwadi and Ahupe in the Bhimashankar Sanctuary area was launched to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities. Located near the sacred Bhimashankar Temple, the project attracts numerous tourists and devotees throughout the year. Two self-managed groups comprising 60 local residents have been formed and trained to provide eco-tourism services. Visitors enjoy attractions such as Konkankada, Devrai, Bhattiche Ran, and Sakharmachi, along with accommodation, refreshments, and guided tours. The initiative has generated direct employment and increased household incomes, improving the socio-economic condition of beneficiaries while promoting environmental conservation and reducing migration.
