Government Schemes and Documentation Camps for Tribal Empowerment
Shashwat Trust, Manchar, in partnership with the Azim Premji Foundation, Bengaluru, implemented the “Government Schemes and Documentation Camps for Tribal Empowerment” initiative in tribal villages of Ambegaon Taluka, Pune District. The project aimed to improve access to government welfare schemes and essential documentation services for Katkari and Mahadev Koli communities residing in remote areas.
Government Schemes Camps were organized in 18 tribal villages with support from officials of the Tehsil Office, Panchayat Samiti, and Gram Panchayat. Citizens received guidance and assistance to access schemes related to agriculture, healthcare, education, and livelihoods. Documentation Camps provided services such as Aadhaar updates, Voter ID cards, PAN cards, Ayushman Bharat cards, and mobile number linking, benefiting 894 citizens.
By bringing multiple government services directly to villages, the initiative reduced travel costs and time, improved transparency, strengthened trust in public institutions, and promoted social inclusion, self-reliance, and the socio-economic empowerment of tribal communities.
