Soil and Water conservation
Godre village in Junnar taluka has a population of about 2,500 people. The village lies at an altitude of 1,500 to 2,000 meters above sea level, which results in low rainfall. Due to this, water scarcity made farming difficult, forcing farmers, women, and youth to migrate for wage labor.
To address this challenge, effective soil and water conservation measures were implemented in the village. Various interventions were undertaken on degraded hill slopes to conserve soil and water. As a result, at the foothills and mid-slopes, farmers are now able to successfully cultivate crops like wheat, millet, and horticultural crops.
