Tribal Water Conservation and Water Availability Initiative
Water scarcity has long been a major challenge in tribal areas, particularly during summer, affecting drinking water availability, livestock health, and community well-being. To address this issue, the organization implemented a comprehensive water conservation initiative focused on improving water storage and ensuring sustainable water availability.
Initially, 39 water storage tanks were excavated and constructed in tribal villages, providing critical support to local communities and their livestock. As demand increased over time, the organization deepened and strengthened existing water structures, significantly enhancing their storage capacity. The initiative was further expanded across tribal villages in Ambegaon and Khed talukas through the creation of new water storage structures and renovation of existing tanks.
The project improved access to safe drinking water, reduced the burden on women, enhanced livestock productivity, and strengthened livelihood opportunities for rural families. Overall, the initiative has become a successful model of sustainable water management, promoting health, livelihood security, and self-reliance among tribal communities.
